Gateway of India

One just can’t imagine Mumbai without the Gateway of India. It dates back to the 20th century, is built in the Indo-Saracenic style and was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911.

We recommend you to visit Gateway of India in the evening as that way, you can enjoy the sunset. The view of ships and boats at a short distance and the world-famous Taj Hotel in the forefront is something that you shouldn’t miss from the Gateway of India. The perks don’t end here as Marine Drive is a walking distance away from Gateway of India and you could take a walk, to make the most of your visit.

Marine Drive

Marine Drive is a 3 km long stretch along the South Mumbai coast along the Arabian Sea and is one of the best spots to visit in the Mumbai city sightseeing package. You can visit Marine Drive any time you like because it is always spectacular but we highly recommend you to either visit it in the morning to watch the sun go up or at dusk to take in the sunset.

Marine Drive becomes all the more beautiful at night because one can witness lights glowing in a perfect arch which is nothing less than breathtaking. Marine Drive is a popular hangout spot for runners, lovers, and families. What will strike you the most about this place is the serenity and the calm that it will bring to you as opposed to the chaos you’d have to deal with in the rest of the city.

Siddhivinayak Temple

Siddhivinayak Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is visited by thousands of devotees every single day. From commoners to famous celebrities, Siddhivinayak is a temple visited by everyone because of how well managed it is. There is no entrance fee for entering the mandir, thus making it more accessible for people from all walks of life.

Colaba Causeway Market

With the Gateway adjacent, it makes for a great place to shop for Indian antiques. It remains open from 10 in the morning to 10 in the night so you can plan your visit with ease. This is the perfect market to gather mementos for your friends and family from your one day Mumbai local sightseeing tour.

Haji Ali Dargah

Haji Ali Dargah is situated five hundred yards from the shoreline in the middle of the Arabian Sea that houses the tomb of Muslim Saint, Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. This structure is around 400 years older and is revered not just for the stunning architecture and intricate Indian and Islamic detailing, but also as one of the most important religious sites in Mumbai.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in India. It is a historic railway station and is headquarters to the Central Railways. The site is a fine illustration of Victorian Gothic Revival Architecture in the country. It is operated by Central Railway Zone of India and has eighteen platforms in total.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus has been the favorite spot for a lot of Bollywood filmmakers and is also famous for this reason. The main highlight of this station was filming of the song, ‘ Jai Ho’ from the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ that got India an Oscar. There is a popular market in the subway of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus where you can buy all sorts of stuff from garments to toys at a very cheap rate.
