Overview

Mumbai is on the go 24 hours a day and if you take the effort to wake up a little bit early, you can experience a completely different side of the city which few get to see!

Mumbai at dawn appears quieter than normal initially, but when you enter the various markets (fruit, meat, fish) you will be woken up by the size and energy of these places with its people carrying, cleaning, selling and hustling. The fragrant smells of the spices, vegetables and fruit linger in the air as you pass by but so do the fish and the meat. The meat market is not for the faint hearted (you can choose to skip this) and even the most ardent carnivores might raise an eyebrow at the fate of the thousands of poor chickens.

The pace does change as you will also enter a Hindu and Jain Temple, seeing Mumbai’s residents undertake their morning daily rituals and understanding more about these two religions. You will also get the opportunity to feed the sacred cows in a Cow Shelter.

Travel will be by air conditioned car. If you are doing a private tour, we will pick you up from your hotel or residence.

Tour Highlights

Fruit Market:Visit the iconic Crawford Market, the first building in India to get electricity! Here you will see the wholesale fruit market – many different stalls selling whatever fruits are in season.
Meat and Fish Market:Still within Crawford Market, this is not for the faint hearted and the strong smells of the meat and the fate of chickens will provoke a strong reaction.
Newspapers getting sorted:Mumbai is a mix of people from all over India with its different languages and cultures. Mumbai’s newspapers are equally diverse and the tour starts observing these being organised to be delivered to all parts of the city
Mumbadevi Temple / Jain Temple:Observe Mumbai’s residents carrying out their morning rituals at a Hindu and Jain temple respectively and learn more about these two religions.
Bombay Panjrapole:Nestled away in the heart of the city, Bombay Panjrapole is a sanctuary for the welfare of more than 350 cows. The cow is considered sacred by Hindus; to increase their karma, people will come to the shelter to feed the cows.
